Skip bin guidelines and tips

  • Book early: Secure your skip bin in advance to ensure availability on your preferred dates, especially if you need assistance from family or friends.
  • Anticipate wait times: Be aware that wait times for skip bin delivery can extend during peak periods, such as school holidays, the end of the financial year, and around Easter.
  • Weather conditions: Service continues irrespective of weather conditions.
  • Placement: Skip bins are usually placed on grass verges. If your property does not have a grassed verge, please contact Cleanaway for alternative arrangements. A waiver may be required for certain locations.
  • Upon arrival: Bins may arrive full but will be emptied by 4:30 pm on the delivery day.
  • Dimensions: The skip bins measure 1.80m x 1.55m (top), 1.50m x 1.35m (bottom), with a height of 1.25m.
  • Prepare your waste: Keep your waste within your property line, ready for easy loading into the skip.
  • Avoid overfilling: Ensure waste does not exceed the top rail of the skip to prevent collection issues.
  • Maximise your allocation: Extend your waste disposal capacity by combining your bulk waste allocation with the lounge collection service, then consider purchasing an additional household waste skip at the City's special rate.
