Green waste disposal

Explore options for disposing of bulk green waste, from self-disposal with a greens tipping voucher to the scheduled bulk green waste verge collection services.

About green waste and disposal options

Green waste encompasses organic garden and yard debris, such as tree branches, leaves, grass clippings, and other plant materials.

For minimal amounts of green waste or loose leaves, use your greens waste bin.

To manage larger amounts of greens waste effectively and sustainably, the City offers two primary disposal options:

Annually, residents are entitled to four green waste tipping vouchers for use at the Wangara Green Recycling Centre.

Preparing your green waste for collection

  • Branches exceeding 150mm in diameter should be cut into 300mm lengths
  • Place all bulk green waste loosely on the verge—no boxes, bags, or containers
  • Avoid contaminating green waste with other materials, as it will be mulched
  • Do not place bulk green waste on artificial turf, stencilled paving, or near water meters, power domes, streetlights or mailboxes.

Free mulch or compost

Each year, residents receive two mulch or compost vouchers. Each voucher enables you to claim either 2 x one cubic meter of mulch, a 6x4 trailer load, or 2 x six bags of compost.

Important note: Trailers or utes carrying mulch must be covered and secured.
