Pesticide use

Find out about the use of application of pesticides in the City and how to register on the pesticide use exclusion and notification registers.

Pesticide use and application compliance

The City prioritises justified, minimal, and low-toxicity pesticide use in the community for environmental safety. The City follows the Department of Health's Guidelines for Pesticide Use in Non-Agricultural Workplaces, using only approved pesticides.

Compliance in the use and application of pesticides is in accordance with pesticide labels, Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority permits, and safety protocols.

Signage notifying the use of pesticides adheres to Pesticide Regulations.

The City’s Pesticide Use Notification Plan provides information on the City’s management of pesticide applications in public places that are owned or managed by the City, including works undertaken by City staff and contractors.

City residents and property owners wishing to exclude the use of chemical weed control (pesticide) on the verge immediately abutting their property can apply to be added to the City’s Pesticide Use Exclusion Register.
