Deemed to comply check

Find information on building and development standards to ensure your project adheres to the necessary guidelines.

About the 'deemed to comply' check

Constructing a new single house or making extensions and renovations to an existing house may bypass the need for Development (Planning) Approval if they align with the 'deemed to comply' criteria. This check aims to give applicants the confidence that their proposal is ready to move directly to the Building Permit phase.

This step is exclusively for new single houses and extensions or renovations to existing single houses.

Notes:

  • A single house is defined as a dwelling situated on a distinct parcel of land that does not share any common property with another dwelling.
  • The 'deemed to comply' criteria are detailed in Volume 1 of the Residential Design Codes, or any local planning policy that amends or supersedes these standards.

How to apply

Collect and prepare copies of the following:

  • A site plan (scale no less than 1:200) showing lot dimensions, existing and proposed structures, ground levels, structures to be removed, access points, parking spaces, and landscaping.
