The City of Joondalup encourages volunteering within the community. Learn about the benefits of volunteering and how to get involved:
Benefits of volunteering
Volunteering is willingly sharing your time, passion, and purpose to provide a positive influence in your community. People volunteer for many reasons and are reportedly happier and healthier as it increases the feeling of self-worth, purpose, connectedness and provides overall better mental health. Volunteering can also provide pathways to employment by helping people gain work readiness skills and confidence.
Volunteering also offers opportunities to connect with diverse communities, meet like-minded individuals, and forge lasting relationships.
Joondalup Volunteer Resource Centre
The Joondalup Volunteer Resource Centre (JVRC) facilitates volunteering opportunities by offering an engagement point to link potential volunteers with volunteer involving organisations and community groups. The centre helps people find the perfect volunteer role that best suits their interests and skills.
The centre is located in the Whitford Library. Pop in for a visit.
The Joondalup Volunteer Resource Centre (JVRC) will be closed from Friday 13 December for the Christmas and New Year library closure.
JVRC will provide a Wednesday service on 15, 22, and 29 January from 10am - 2pm.
Normal operating hours return on Tuesday 4 February as follows:
- Tuesday to Thursday 10am - 2pm
- Saturday 9.30am - 2.30pm
- Wednesday during school holidays 10am - 2pm
You can register for a Step into Volunteering session or make an personal appointment with a Referral Officer by contacting volunteer@joondalup.wa.gov.au or call 9400 4753.
