Literacy for beginner readers

The Beginner Reader collection supports children who are just beginning to read. Each reading level is given a coloured star:

  • Red Star - Starting to read

  • Blue Star - Reading with help

  • Yellow Star - Reading independently

  • Green Star - Reading proficiently.

Once your child has developed their reading abilities and confidence, there are thousands of fiction and nonfiction books, eBooks, audiobooks, comics and magazines for them to explore and enjoy.

Young artists are invited to display their work in the Whitford Library’s Young Adult Art Space. Artists (12 – 18 years) who live or attend school in the City of Joondalup, or art teachers who would like to showcase their students’ work, may submit artwork for YAAS.  Artworks will be displayed for up to two months.
