- Warrandyte Park
The City of Joondalup’s iconic Music in the Park concert series returns in 2024, with two big – and free – events on back-to-back weekends in November.
The first concert will be held at Warrandyte Park in Craigie on Saturday 2 November, and the second concert is at Bramston Park in Burns Beach on Saturday 9 November, from 5pm to 8.30pm.
This year’s program includes some heavy hitting local artists that are sure to get everyone up and dancing into the sunset, marking the return of balmy nights.
The line-up for the Craigie concert features Siena Rebelo, a rising sensation whose unique brand of indie pop and R’n’B music is garnering her a reputation as one of WA’s most exciting up-and-coming artists, Kombi-A Train, who pay homage to Peruvian cumbia and chicha, layered with spicy salsa rhythms, psychedelic guitars, a hint of rock, jazz, and loads of dancing beats, and Sgt. Hulka, bringing a sparkly explosion of powerhouse vocals, soulful melody, tight rhythms and punchy horns in a fusion of vintage sounds and contemporary flare.
The Burns Beach concert brings together Whiskey Jack, an old soul with a smooth sound and timeless voice, drawing inspiration from many wandered trails as a modern-day jolly swagman, Helen Townsend, an Americana artist and formidable force in the WA music scene who fuses roots-rock, blues, country and folk with some seriously soulful storytelling, and Grace Barbé, who hails from the Indian Ocean islands of Seychelles, influencing her unique musical flavour. With polyrhythmic bass lines, authentic island grooves, and psychedelic rock sorcery, audiences are in for some big, big sounds.
Part of the City’s extensive summer events program, Joondalup Mayor Albert Jacob said Music in the Park provides residents with high quality, free family-friendly fun in the places they live and play.
“Music in the Park concerts add to our sense of community, bringing local residents, neighbours, friends, families and visitors together for a relaxing night of great music at some of our most picture-perfect outdoor locations,” Mayor Jacob said.
“Thousands of people come together for these free concerts, and we aim to spread them across the City so everyone can attend.
“Concerts are Auslan-interpreted as part of the City’s emphasis on providing accessible events that our entire community can be part of and join in the fun.
“We encourage everyone to dust off their eskies, dig out the picnic chairs and pack their hot chicken as some of WA’s best bands, food trucks and free family fun are coming to a park near you.”
