Joondalup is home CyberWest, the WA Cyber Security Innovation Hub – the State’s first innovation hub. This hub includes the Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre, one of only two in Australia, and is a collaboration between industry, government and academia, with partners including the Western Australian Government, Australian Department of Home Affairs, Australian Federal Police, Australian Signals Directorate, CSIRO and multiple universities.
Edith Cowan University is one of only two federal government recognised Academic Centres of Cyber Security Excellence in Australia – with the Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre (CSCRC) and the ECU Security Research Institute (ECUSRI) based here. These internationally recognised leaders in multidisciplinary security science research are housed in a purpose-built world class cyber security research and training facility which was established with academic, government and industry partners attracting around $140million of funding.
Joondalup is perfectly positioned as Perth’s premier innovation precinct, with WA’s first cross sector innovation challenge, businesses such as SEQTA, REDI Software and Sapien Cyber, and the inaugural WestTech Fest Cybotics and AI event emerging from the Joondalup region.
